Meeting at Woking on 4th May 2013 to commemorate centenary of the Woking Muslim Mission

A conference organised by the Ahmadiyya Anjuman Isha‘at Islam Lahore (U.K.) was held at the H.G. Wells Conference Centre, Woking, Surrey, on 4th May 2013 to commemorate the centenary of the establishment of the Woking Muslim Mission. The following local dignitaries and public officials of Woking addressed the Conference and thereby lent weight to its importance:

  • Mr Jonathan Lord, M.P. for Woking
  • Councillor Anne Roberts, Mayor of Woking
  • Mr Ray Morgan, Chief Executive, Woking Borough Council

The following guests also addressed the meeting:

  • Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon
  • Dr Gerdien Jonker, Ph.D., historian and writer on Islam in Europe, from Germany

Lahore Ahmadiyya representatives who spoke were:

  • Dr A.K. Saeed, International Head and Ameer of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement
  • Mr Amir Aziz, General Secretary AAIIL, Lahore, Pakistan.
  • Mrs J. Khan, President of the AAIIL (UK).
  • Dr Zahid Aziz, Website creator and editor of www.wokingmuslim.org

The audience consisted of members of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement from UK, Holland, Suriname, Pakistan and USA, and their guests.

A booklet entitled Woking Muslim Mission Centenary, compiled by Dr Zahid Aziz, was released and distributed at the meeting.

A special issue of the Lahore Ahmadiyya International news bulletin, the HOPE, was published to cover the proceedings of this conference.
